Inspired by the birth of Italian couture in the 1950s, Florentine architect Michele Bönan has used fine detailing, exquisite fabrics and handcrafted furniture in his design for Portrait Firenze – part of the Lungarno Collection owned by the Ferragamo Group.
The hotel tells the story of Italian fashion and reflects ‘Made in Italy’ and the heritage of Italian designers, including Salvatore Ferragamo, who helped define true craftsmanship in Florence. The walls of the rooms in Portrait Firenze are decorated with photographic reportage of the lifestyle and the glamour of Florence in the 50s.
The 34 suites and studios range from 40m² to 130m², with a penthouse suite of 273m². Each room has a kitchenette equipped with everything guests might need to whip up a drink or light meal, as well as a complimentary iPad, docking station and music and DVD library. They have over-sized beds, a pillow menu, walk in wardrobes, Carrara marble bathrooms with soft bathrobes and towels and a gorgeous range of toiletries by Salvatore Ferragamo.
Portrait Caffè, adjacent to the hotel, is the perfect place to enjoy a Florentine breakfast, lunch or dinner, with beautiful views of the Ponte Vecchio and the River Arno.
