Luminor Marina watches in titanium, carbotech, & new fibratech with 70-year warranty
In January 1950, a patent was granted to Panerai for a luminous material called Luminor that could be used on watch dials. Now, on the 70th anniversary of that innovation, Panerai is releasing three new Luminor Marina watches that also come with an unheard-of 70-year guarantee as part of Watches & Wonders 2020.
These lume-heavy divers are the Panerai Luminor Marina PAM1117 in titanium, the Luminor Marina PAM1118 in Carbotech, and the Luminor Marina PAM01119 in an all-new material called Fibratech. Each of these is limited to 270 pieces and sold exclusively at Panerai boutiques.
All models are 44mm and use a case in the familiar Luminor Marina profile, with the oversized locking crown guard. They also all use the in-house P.9010 movement with a three-day power reserve.
Of course while the materials are impressive… so is the lume, as it was most intended to be for this celebration. The lume in all three watches is a new grade of Super-LumiNova called “X1” that Panerai says is stronger and longer-lasting than other variants, which allows them use it in the structural elements of the watch themselves.
What some may consider the most impressive part, is that since this trio of Luminor Marina watches are celebrating a 70th anniversary, Panerai is guaranteeing these models for 70 years.
The Panerai Luminor Marina PAM1117 Titanium retails at $19,000 USD; the Luminor Marina PAM1118 Carbotech retails at $16,000 USD; and Luminor Marina PAM1119 Fibratech retails at $19,000 USD.
