Seven days dedicated to Dolce & Gabbana’s three decades of activity as world famous fashion designers
The curtain falls on the big party to celebrate thirty years of the famous Italian fashion designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. They chose Napoli, a city wonderful and fascinating, and in homage to the testimonial, Neapolitan actress Sophia Loren of their latest advertising campaign was present. This wasn’t all about fashion, but also for the great love for a city famous around the world, for the history, the community, the natural beauty that is Napoli.
Of course, Naples is a city of many contradictions, but beautiful and hospitable. We want to talk to the people, experience the warmth, hospitality, monuments and cultural wealth.
It was a beautiful story told through the parades that were held in the most typical places of Naples, to the Historical Center, in San Gregorio Armeno (the place where the Nativity scenes come to life) to Castel dell’Ovo, Maschio Angioino, on the seafront, at Molo Luise, on the Posillipo beach, the Lido Elena, and Palazzo Donna Anna. What a show!
Among the shiny suits of Dolce & Gabbana and the narrow streets of the Spanish quarters — from the 7 to 10 July 2016, Napoli was really an international capital of fashion. Today, there are discussions about the possibility of making the city a regular stop for the most prestigious international designers, as well as showcasing the excellence of Made in Italy.
Yes, Sophia Loren was the queen of the party — and Naples adores her. The actress received from the hands of the Mayor De Magistris, the keys to the city, and was the star of the party promoted by the designer couple.
A presence is almost necessary, as words can not describe the great event hosted by Dolce & Gabbana along with the active participation of the municipal administration and citizenship. The enchanting evening at Castel dell’Ovo was the location for the Dolce Vita Fifties and an ode to the elegance of James Bond, with a fashion collection inspired by Sophia Loren and called Mambo Italiano.
The story of Naples will not end at the conclusion of this party, because D & G have promised a book to immortalize the best moments. More stories are told from the more than one hundred and fifty reporters from around the world who have flowed into the streets and attended exclusive parties of the most glamorous event of the year.
Naples lights up fashion, but so does Milan, Florence and Rome for example, where Fendi just celebrated 90 years of its existence by staging a unique event at the Trevi Fountain. Italy is all a natural stage. I have often written about Milan fashion events where they have been concentrated for several years (such as the fashion week and beyond), but when an event touches Naples, it is another story completely.
Naples is one of the most fascinating cities in the world. From every angle, from different perspectives. And Dolce & Gabbana, most attentive to communication and marketing, have chosen the best. Just as they have chosen the evocative and famous Clubhouse of the Rari Nantes, to open a Temporary shop for D & G overlooking the famous seaside village. Sky, land and sea of Naples will charm everyone.
