Luminor Regatta Transat Classique Limited Edition Watch
The Transat is the most formidable classic yacht race in the world – 3,500 miles across the Atlantic ocean from Lanzarote in the Canary Islands to St Kitts in the Caribbean, and Panerai is the principal sponsor. The Italian luxury watch brand has been a strong promoter of yacht racing for a while now and has released a handful of Regatta timepieces as a tribute to several yacht racing events in the past.
The Transat is a gruelling race, around 8 days long at top speed, pushing racers and their crafts to the limit. To mark 2019’s race, Panerai has produced a watch with similarly impressive credentials.
It’s called the Luminor Regatta Transat Classique, and its not for the faint hearted. The 47mm brushed titanium Luminor case makes a real impact, as does the royal blue dial, orange markers and rubber strap. Its functionality is tailored to the needs of hard-core nautical experts. Alongside the watch’s flyback chronograph sits a regatta countdown function, knots scale for calculation of boat speed, and a seconds reset.
To power all these features, the watch houses Panerai’s in-house automatic mechanical P.9100/R calibre, with an impressive 72-hour power reserve and 100 metres of water resistance, too.
The watch comes fitted with a blue rubber strap and is limited to just 150 pieces worldwide.
