Iconic Italian watch brand partners with Luna Rossa Sailing Team
Well recognized as a leader in demanding diving watches, Panerai, has announced a new version of its Luminor Luna Rossa model. The inspiration came from the partnership with the Luna Rossa sailing team – owned by Prada CEO Patrizio Baterelli, since 2017.
The minimalist white Luminor has been announced ahead of the 37th America’s Cup, to be held in Barcelona in September and October 2024. Team Luna Rossa is the current holder of the Prada Cup, a companion race to the America’s Cup.
Team Luna Rossa and Panerai have created a 1,500-piece limited edition 44mm Luminor Luna Rossa in polished stainless steel, contrasting against a brushed-finish steel crown protection device.
It is sold with two straps, one in dark grey fabric with a red stripe, the other made of black rubber.
The Luminor’s matte white dial features cool grey Super-LumiNova, a red small seconds hand at the nine-o’clock position and Luna Rossa text at the six o’clock.
Powering the 100m water resistant watch is a P.6000 hand wound, hacking seconds movement with three-day power reserve.
Panerai, together with Prada, Pirelli and other Italian sponsors including the Parmeggiano Reggiano cheese conglomerate – have a goal to bring the America’s Cup home to Italy.
The Panerai Luminor Luna Rossa is available now via Panerai, priced at $5,900 USD).
