MAY 2013 –
As the warmer months of Spring and Summer arrive, not many thoughts can be more enjoyable on the taste buds than an artistic creation of gelato – and to celebrate that art form of delight, the ‘Italia Gelato Tour’ is underway!
Firenze Gelato Festival first took place in 2010 and is now approaching its fourth year hot on the heels of the international success, with around 400,000 visitors each year.
Having started in Florence on May 17, the tour will proceed to Milan on May 31, then Turin on June 7 and finally Rome on June 21, every stop along the way promoting each city’s contribution to the history of Italian gelato.
Great attention will be paid to the local areas and the host cities, with a focus on the significance of each location in the history of gelato, and strong emphasis on local gelato makers and producers.
Include will be workshops, meetings and elaborate shows devoted to the world of gelato, and top flavors will be created especially for the Gelato Festival.
One special flavor that has been created for this edition of the Festival: Cantuccino, with cantuccini, almonds and vinsanto Doc from Tuscany. The proceeds of the sale of gelato made by Sammontana at its stand will be donated to the Foundation, Meyer Paediatric Hospital in Florence, a charity which supports and assists Meyer, a reference to national and international excellence for pediatric care.
Firenze Gelato Festival 2013 and Italy Gelato Tour 2013 are indeed the perfect settings for any gelato maker…and gelato lover alike.
