The Ermenegildo Zegna Group has revealed that two of its contemporary labels, Z Zegna and Zegna Sport are set to merge together into a new label which will compromise both the labels design aesthetics and heritage.
The new label will combine the Z Zegna formal and tailor looked with Zegna Sport’s casual, yet high performance wear, into a modern lifestyle brand known as Z Zegna. The first collection for the label is set to be designed by Paul Surridge and Murry Scallon, current designers of the two labels, and will be unveiled at the upcoming edition of Pitti Uomo in Florence on June 19th, 2014.
The merger has been described as “an ongoing project” and will be accompanied by a new store concept for the SS 15 season, to reflect the new label and its changed to its stockists as well as its clientèle. Gildo Zegna, Chief Executive Officer at the Ermenegildo Zegna Group, believes that the renewed label will help the group become stable in the accessible luxury category.
“Zegna is developing a new business tool to target the evolving and specific needs of the menswear market,” commented Zegna. “The new Z Zegna will concentrate its efforts to drive attention to different product categories season after season. From ready-to-wear to accessories, this workshop has been developed by our design team and will put in place the best know how and expertise to hybridize an established concept.”
The new collection is set to launch at selected locations around the world as well as a number of Ermenegildo Zegna flagship stores and online at Zegna.com.
