There are certain voices that seem inseparable from a sense of place. For Italian singer and songwriter Giada Valenti, that place is Venice and the Veneto—a world of romance, beauty, elegance and timeless Italian culture that has influenced both her music and her life.
Born and raised in Portogruaro near Venice, Valenti has built an international career that stretches around the world, from Italy to the Netherlands and the United States. Along the way, she has developed a distinctive musical identity built around romantic songs, sophisticated arrangements and an unmistakably Italian sense of warmth and style.
Today, Giada Valenti is perhaps best known to American audiences for her acclaimed PBS television special From Venice With Love, but her musical journey began long before she stepped onto an American stage.
A Musical Life That Began in Italy
Music entered Giada’s life at an early age. She began singing and playing piano as a child and was already performing professionally with a band by the age of twelve.
Her formal musical education included piano and music theory studies at the Santa Cecilia music school in Venice, followed by a music degree from the G. Tartini Conservatory in Trieste. She also studied jazz with American singer Dawn Mitchell.
Her talents soon began attracting attention in Italy. Valenti earned recognition in several Italian music competitions, including Festival di Castrocaro. Later, after moving to the Netherlands, she participated in the San Remo New Talents in the World competition for Italians living abroad. Her performance of the romantic pop ballad Solo Con Te helped lead to a recording contract with BMG Ariola in Europe.
It was the beginning of a career that would eventually carry her music across the Atlantic.
From Europe to America
After establishing herself in Europe, Giada eventually moved to the United States, where she began introducing American audiences to her distinctive interpretation of Italian and international romantic music.
Her 2005 album Italian Signorina helped establish her presence in America and included her interpretation of the beloved song Caruso.
Rather than limiting herself strictly to traditional Italian repertoire, Giada developed a style that crosses musical borders.
She has interpreted songs associated with artists ranging from Domenico Modugno and Edith Piaf to The Beatles, The Carpenters, Dusty Springfield, Roberta Flack and The Doors. Singing in multiple languages, she moves comfortably between Italian musical heritage and the international songbook.

For many Americans, their introduction to Giada Valenti came through her nationally televised PBS special, From Venice With Love.
The production was conceived as a romantic musical journey inspired by Venice, combining Giada’s interpretations of Italian and American songs with orchestral arrangements and elegant visual staging.
Backed by a 26-piece orchestra, Giada performed in gowns specially created in Venice. The production itself incorporated Venetian-inspired details, including an elaborate chandelier composed of approximately 2,000 pieces of Venetian crystal.
The result was more than a concert. It was an expression of Italian atmosphere.
Through music, fashion, storytelling and design, From Venice With Love captured something that travelers have sought in Venice for centuries: romance.
The special introduced Giada to audiences across the United States and helped lead to performances at theaters and performing arts centers around the country.
Taking Italian Elegance to the Stage
Giada’s stage presence reflects much of what makes classic Italian style so appealing.
There is glamour, but never simply for glamour’s sake. There is elegance, emotion and a respect for tradition combined with a willingness to reinterpret it for contemporary audiences.
