A bottled Lake Garda white wine masterpiece
The renowned Tommasi family has a reputation of mastering Italian wines that highlight the regions of Italy they are from.
I have always loved Tommasi wines… particularly their Amarone. I will say though that this Tommasi Le Fornaci Lugana is an outstanding wine and easily one of my favorite whites.
Lugana, sits in the far east of Lombardy, on the border with Veneto providing the perfect combination of terroir. Produced on the southern shores of Lake Garda, Le Fornaci Lugana is created with Turbiana, the area’s traditional grape. Turbiana is a grape that grows in medium-sized, compact clusters; the grapes have a thick skin and juicy, slightly acidic pulp.
Lugana is a harmonious white wine that appeases demanding palates with delicate and refreshing aromas. Intense and bright yellow on the nose it is fruity and fragrant, with notes of tropical fruit, apples and grapefruit. The taste is somewhat dry, but I don’t feel those that dislike dry wines would have a problem with this with its refreshing and mouthwatering finish.
Fornaci Lugana is ideal as an aperitif, with appetizers and finger food and pairs very well with seafood. Also an excellent choice to accompany flavorful first courses, risotto, delicate meats, and fresh cheeses.
