In January, Panerai announced new models at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) and have only recently become available.
Here are three that really stood out:
Officine Panerai Luminor 1950 8 Days Titanio
Panerai’s Luminor collection has a new watch- a historic 1950 8-day power reserve Titanio. The movement is hand wound and uses Panerai’s own calibre, the P.2006/3. As the name of the watch suggests, after it has been wound it has a power reserve of 8 days and the days are shown as a linear indicator on the dial. It has a chronograph function, is water resistant to 100 metres and has a sapphire crystal open case back. The strap of this watch is unique and is made of rubber with a trapezoidal brushed titanium buckle. A trademark from Panerai, the crown is also protected by a brushed titanium device.
Officine Panerai Radiomir 1940 3 Days Oro Rosso
A new addition to the historic Radiomir 1940 collection is this hand wound mechanical 1940 3 Days Oro Rosso. It has a 47mm diameter 18-carat rose gold case with a Panerai personalised alligator strap with an 18-carat rose gold buckle. When it has been hand wound, the power reserve lasts for 3 days and it has a seconds dial at the 9 o’clock mark. The hour marks, the hands and the seconds dial illuminates in the dark and the back of the case is open to view the movement and protected by sapphire crystal.
Officine Panerai Pocket Watch Tourbillon GMT Ceramica
A first from Panerai, this skeleton hand wound mechanical pocket watch gives a modern twist to something classic. It is hand wound with a Panerai P.2005/S calibre movement, has a power reserve of 6 days which is indicated on the open case back. Other functions include a second time zone and a 24 hour indicator and it has a Panerai personalised watch chain in black ceramic. The case is also ceramic, meaning it is highly durable and has a long-term resistance to wear and tear and corrosion.
