A schedule of events in bringing heightened awareness to Italy and the Italian lifestyle
As the of 2012 nears, we will soon be into 2013 and what has been specifically designed by Foreign Minister Giulio Terzi di Sant’Agata as The Year of Italian Culture in the United States.
The goal of the year’s theme is to present Italy as a country that is forward-looking and forward-thinking. Whose excellence is deeply rooted in a time-honored past of success in the research, discovery, and innovation, with a vision and perspective together with the experience and expertise to meet the challenges of today and tomorrow.
Italian culture and identity will be presented and decoded through the kaleidoscope of geniality that has forged Italian life and lifestyle: art, music, theatre, cinema, literature; architecture and archaeology, science, design, fashion; politics, law and economics; and, of course, cuisine.
Some of the events already on the calendar will be organized in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy in Washington DC and the Consulates General and Italian Cultural Institutes located across America, including New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston, Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston, Detroit, and Miami.
Consulate General in New York, Italian Ambassador Claudio Bisogniero, who took office a little more than a month ago, underscored that the United States remains a highly valued partner for Italy.
The specific plans and special events are still being finalized, and it is important to note that they will go beyond the involvement of Italian institutions. There will be a great deal of collaboration with the Italian private sector as well as American and Italian-American entities. Bisogniero added that overall, “this project aims to elevate the image of our great country.”
