Italian luxury appliance brand expands collaboration with Disney
Last year, the popular Italian luxury appliance brand, SMEG, created a design collaboration with Disney. They premiered a limited-edition Mickey Mouse fridge in the UK to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the beloved Disney character, and the launch sold out in only three days.
That success prompted SMEG to bring the idea to U.S. kitchens this year, a move Mickey Mouse enthusiasts all across America are likely to embrace.
“The SMEG-Disney synergy is inherent, and we’re honored to work with such a renowned, creative company. They say the kitchen is the heart of the home, and bringing households together, whether through food or entertainment, is at the core of what each brand stands for,” said Paul McCormack, National Sales & Marketing Director for SMEG USA, Inc. “After the success of our initial partnership in the UK, we’re pleased to now bring a newly-designed Mickey Mouse FAB28 to the American market.”
Mickey Mouse came into the homes – and hearts – of the world for the first time in 1928, through black and white animation as his debut character, Steamboat Willie.
Nodding to this vintage, playful sketch, the fridge door design features a huge iconic image of Mickey Mouse playfully reaching towards the door handle – while maintaining its trademark SMEG curved profile.
Inside, the fridge features some upgrades, including additional overall space, a Life Plus drawer for extra cool temp control, a Multiflow Cooling System, LED lighting strips and Energy Star efficiency.
The SMEG Fab 28 Mickey Mouse Refrigerator is available exclusively at Williams-Sonoma for $2,799.
