An environmental improvement project for all to enjoy
Oasi Zegna (the Zegna Oasis) was founded in 1993 as a project to promote the work of Ermenegildo Zegna who since 1930 designed and financed a massive reforestation of the mountains near the Zegna Wool Mill in Trivero, a province of Biella. This paradise stretches for around 100 km2 in the Biella Alps district the Region of Piemonte.
It is crossed by the “Panoramica Zegna” route, now a State road, constructed by wool entrepreneur Ermenegildo Zegna, with close ties to his land, in order to promote the economic development of the mountains and their inhabitants.
Owing to his entrepreneur nature and love for beautiful nature, in Trivero, his native town – today the entrance of Oasi Zegna- he first founded in 1910 the textile mill Lanificio Ermenegildo Zegna, still today operating, then from 1930, he reforested the barren mountainside with more than half a million pines, several hundreds of rhododendrons and hydrangeas, creating an exceptional Alpine landscape.
The Oasi Zegna project, conceived and realized by his heirs, was born in 1993 as natural development of the “green thinking of Ermenegildo” and as first Italian example of environmental patronage and open air laboratory, giving top priority to the relation between man, nature and culture of the mountain, with a particular care for families and children.
The Oasis, the ideal place for all-year-round leisure and sports activities, in full respect of local ecosystems, proposes a complete range of tourist facilities that offer the typical services and hospitality of mountain culture and traditions, gathered in a Consorzio Turistico (Tourism Consortium) with the task of promoting the mountain area.
