This year marks the 90th milestone of Disney’s legendary cartoon character Mickey Mouse
Since making a debut in the 1928 short animated film – Steamboat Willie, the cartooned wonder has continued to live on and mesmerize many with his charm. Gucci recently teamed up with Walt Disney for an exclusive Mickey Mouse inspired handbag collection.
The bags first premiered to the fashion world at Gucci’s spring/summer 2019 show in Paris, by creative director Alessandro Michele. They are designed to look identical to the iconic cartoon character and are the perfect homage to celebrate the icon’s milestone birthday.
The exclusive Mickey Mouse carriers resemble the head of Mickey Mouse and also feature a handle placed across the beloved character’s ears. Apart from the standard version, the bag also comes in an all-white avatar with featured elements in red and scribbles of a star and moon on Mickey’s Ears, an “x” over his nose and text running along his forehead. There’s also an all-black version with red inscription, as well as additional bags with the character’s traditional color palate.
This isn’t the first time Alessandro Michele has incorporated Disney characters in his collections. In Spring 2017, he released the much-appreciated Donald Duck capsule collection for Gucci. The designer also showed-off an appearance of Snow White eating a poison apple during the spring 2018 line, and a pattern made up of the “Three Little Pigs” for the 2019 cruise show.
The exclusive Gucci X Walt Disney Mickey Mouse handbags are expected to hit stores early next year.
